ava's blankee

we are blankee people. we like to snuggle when we read, when we watch movies, when we eat, when we sleep, when we sit around and talk. . .seth still has his blankee (he calls it his blue blankee) and kate still has her blankee (it's sort of famous, but in a bad way) and i even still have my blankee (it's also sort of famous, but in a good way). ava is the only one without a blankee (other than ryan who cares not a whit for blankees)  and this makes her sad when we do things where blankees are needed. like have a family movie night. i've been wanting to quilt for ages and i decided that this christmas i was going to quilt that girl a blankee. so i pulled out some of the fabric i've been saving up for a fabulous project and started planning.

and then i came up with this:

 

this blankee makes me feel like dancing and shouting and snuggling and giggling all at the same time. that owl fabric! isn't it the best thing you've ever seen??? (it is)

all of thank yous in the world go to miss laurie taylor who is the one who saved ava from never having a blankee for christmas. when it got to the binding and the sewing of the quilt layers together i got scared and sort of froze. laurie let me come over and explained everything to me. she also gave me a lot of tips and then she finished my project for me. cheerfully. SHE IS AMAZING. and i am so thankful for her. if she hadn't come along and saved the day, i think this blankee would be really ugly. and also broken. 

i'm already excited for the next quilt to sew. i have a baby niece born in february (yay!) and i'm thinking she'll need a blankee, too.
